Founder guide

Borrow the question. Build your own answer.

The reusable part of a competitor ad is the customer question and proof sequence, not its script, footage, character, or visual identity. Translate the structure through a product truth that only your app can demonstrate.

Use a four-column translation

Competitor evidenceAbstract patternYour product truthOriginal test
Photo becomes macro dataOne physical input produces visible certaintyYour app turns one user action into a resultFilm your action and result in a different real-life moment
Meme creates curiosityA familiar situation earns the first secondYour audience has a recognizable private frustrationWrite a new observation from customer language

Do not cross these lines

  • Do not download and relabel a competitor video.
  • Do not paraphrase a distinctive script line and call it original.
  • Do not reproduce a character, mascot, creator performance, or branded interface.
  • Do not carry over a claim your product cannot prove on screen.

Vary one decision at a time

Start with a stable product proof. Test hooks first, then formats, then offers. If every variant changes the actor, hook, proof, pacing, and CTA, the campaign cannot teach you which decision mattered.
