Use Meta Ad Library for lookup. Use AdSnoop for a repeatable decision.
Meta Ad Library is the free source of truth for public Meta creatives and should remain part of verification. AdSnoop adds iOS competitor selection, evidence organization, proxy ranking, cross-ad pattern analysis, and original creative-test outputs.
The honest comparison
| Task | Meta Ad Library | AdSnoop |
|---|---|---|
| Find a known advertiser | Free direct search | Included after competitor discovery |
| Find feature-similar iOS apps | Manual research outside the library | Starts from an App Store URL |
| Verify a public ad record | Primary source | Links back to the source |
| Prioritize a large set | Manual sorting and notes | Transparent longevity proxy |
| Find repeated patterns | Manual comparison | Structured hook, beat, format, and palette synthesis |
| Produce an original test brief | Not provided | Brand-adapted concept and script output |
| See ROAS or CPI | Not available for ordinary commercial ads | Not available |
Which should you use?
Use Meta Ad Library alone when you already know the correct advertiser, need a handful of current creatives, and have time to analyze them manually. It costs nothing and remains the primary place to verify a source record.
Use AdSnoop when competitor selection is part of the problem, the research set is large enough to need prioritization, or you want the analysis to end in a named testing matrix rather than a folder of references.
Keep the source attached
Whichever route you choose, save the public URL and observation date next to every conclusion. A screenshot without a source is inspiration. It is not durable research.
